Spyro 3 ends the Insomniac era of Spyro games with a little hooray! The last in the trilogy came out on October 24, 2000.
The Tale
In this adventure Spyro along with hunter and the other dragons are fast asleep in the Dragon Realm until a bunny named Bianca and her Rhynoc crew come and steal all of the dragon eggs for an evil Sorceress. It’s now up to Spyro and a few new and old friends to help collect all the eggs and defeat the Sorceress.
Game play and Story
Spyro has all the same powers from the past two games along with all of the timed power ups such as flight and fire ball. There were no new move additions, but there were new playable characters added! Meet Sheila, Bentley, Sgt. Bird, and Agent 9! These fun, but sometimes frustrating characters each have there own move sets and mini worlds. Sheila is a kangaroo that can kick and jump extremely high. Bentley is a yeti who has a giant ice club that can smash through the most difficult of chests and barriers. Sgt. Bird is a penguin who can fly and has rocket launchers and, lastly, Agent 9 is a monkey who has a ray gun. I enjoyed playing these character after I got used to how they controlled, but they weren’t as fleshed out as Spyro is. They felt very basic and one noted. It was nice to have a break from playing as Spyro, but i found myself just wanting to get back to controls that I already mastered.
Achievements
- 150 Eggs acquired
- 20,000 Gems collected
- 5 Worlds completed
- 20 Skill points accumulated
Final Thoughts
This game is my favorite out of the three and recommend out of all of the games to play this one the most. I had tons of fun playing through the trilogy and can’t wait for the remastered version of the Spyro games to come out!
