The style of 1940’s cartoons are iconic around the world. From Mickey Mouse to Betty Boop these original animations have amazed and touched the lives of many. Every character and background was meticulously drawn with the utmost care and precision. Today’s cartoons have advanced past the days of pencil and paper and are are digitized making it much easier to draw and render an image. However, one company by the name of Studio MDHR saw the beauty in the old ways and decided to create a video game centered around the 1940’s style of artwork. The game was incredible and definitely will be a staple in history, but today I want to talk about a piece of merchandise I purchased with the Cuphead brand.
THE PACKAGING
My first impressions of the packaging for the shirt were eye-catching. I had gone to the store ThinkGeek and a yellow box had caught my attention. Written across the front was Cuphead with all its beautifully drawn characters on each side.The box was meant to look like an old school metal lunch box even having a handle on top. From there I was hooked and I knew I wanted to purchase this item.
THE SHIRT
When I had came home and took the shirt out of the box, I first noticed its good quality of fabric. From there the design on the shirt was awe-inspiring. It had captured the essence of Cuphead in one picture. It displays Cuphead himself pouring an “unknown” liquid into his head as the devil looks on. Even though it doesn’t show it I would believe Cuphead is preparing for a battle since the words “Ready? Wallop!” are labeled across the top. This shirt shows the hero’s determination and spunk for every battle he must face on his journey for the devil. Another aspect of the shirt that caught my eye was that it only portrayed two colors which are orange and blue. I feel this design choice puts more effect into the design of the shirt.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This limited edition shirt is a must have for any fan of Cuphead! It’s 19.99 price point is a bit pricey but definitely worth it! Get one while they last!
